Perfection...

Anybody else out there fight that ‘perfectionism’ spirit?

I’ll be honest - I’ve struggled in this area most of my life and can’t help but think how many times I might have missed an ideal opportunity to serve somebody well just because I was waiting on the ‘perfect’ timing of the situation.

I  heard this mentioned the other day... ‘Perfect’ is not only an excuse. ‘Perfect’ is where people hide to not serve people.

Think about it, if we continue to keep saying ‘we will do it once it’s perfect’ or ‘once I look a certain ‘perfect’ way then I’ll do that’ - how many people are missing out on sharing their God-given gifts/callings because they keep hiding behind ‘it’s not perfect yet’

Don’t get me wrong. I am all for presenting our best with excellence, but more times than not we get excellence and perfection mixed up. Yes, do your best and present your best, but be aware to know the difference between the two. Serve with excellence; not perfection. Someone is waiting for you on the other side of your yes; regardless if it’s perfect or not.

I hope you will push through the imperfect and go meet people where there are, serve them and love them well in your imperfect state. They won’t remember your “imperfectness” but they WILL remember you for loving & serving them back to wholeness.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do
